Blog Entry #1
The most pressing issue in modern day American politics and government is the war in Iraq. I have chosen this topic because I was born and raised there for the first seven years of my life. Our government sadly chose to send our troops to Iraq to not only liberate but also to occupy and use the country’s resources. This war has been taking place since 2003 and is still continuing today. President Bush gets what he wants under the Patriot Act and the Senate never has the chance to veto his resolutions since 49% of the body is composed of Republicans. So now the ongoing argument is if we going to stay in Iraq or leave. This is an unanswered question that only time can tell.

I'm definitely agree with you that the war in Iraq is one of the more important issues in modern day American politic. I'm also in agreement that the Americn government should start bringing are troops back home and stop trying to liberate, stabilize or better the situation in Iraq because it seems like since we've got there, we've just created chaos and made things worse. By the way, I really like your page.
The war, and how to extract our forces without causes a new river of bloodshed is a top issue of our time. This is your generation's Vietnam.
It seems that there must have been Iraqi-Americans who were asking the US to invade. They wanted us to get rid of the dictator, but no one was really honest about how difficult it would be if we just closed down Saddam's army and infastructure. I think that a lot of people were in denial about how hard this would be. And now, I think that the United States owes the Iraqi people a lot of help over the next decades, to make up for the arrogant blunders that our leadership made. It's been a terrible mistake and Bush and Cheney and the "neocons" have a lot to answer for. I think that history will judge them harshly.
